Hoping you've all had a relatively cruisey week and are heading into an even cruiser weekend!

Great to see so many local shows happening at the moment, seems every time I turn a corner someones putting out a new single!

I've pulled together a few good reads for this week, so scroll through some of these below and catch up on whats going on in the music world.

Vinyl Buyers...Don't Own A Record Player?

If you've followed these mailouts, you may have read a while back that vinyl recently overtook CD's for the first time since 1987 in the US, outselling by over 10 million units. Well, in a recent study, 50% of the people who bought vinyl in 2022 didn't own a record player at the time. There's also some other pretty interesting stats, like in 2018 where 41% of vinyl buyers owned a turntable but didn't use it. Maybe it's time to get that next release printed on wax! SXSW Sydney First Line Up Drops

SXSW is coming to Sydney this October, the first place to host the event outside of Austin, Texas. Alongside over 400 speakers, presentations and workshops - Sydneys live music venues will be taken over to showcase some of the best acts Aus has to offer! Announced this week was Mali Jo$e, Teenage Joans, and a couple of our mates from Perth, Alter Boy and Dice! Check out the full list here.

Rock Hall of Fame Inductions for 2023

This year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held this November, and have just announced the inductees for 2023!

Artists include Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott and George Michael, as well as other inductees in the performance category Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and the Spinners.

Chaka Khan, Al Kooper and songwriter Bernie Taupin – a longtime Elton John collaborator – will receive the Musical Excellence Award. Hip-hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc and guitarist Link Wray will receive the Musical Influence Award, while Soul Train creator Don Cornelius will be posthumously given the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
